The Long Island native joined The News in 1982 as a sports reporter after five years at the Poughkeepsie Journal. The SUNY Stony Brook graduate covered a variety of sporting events, eventually becoming a sports columnist. Donn moved to Life & Arts as a columnist in 1989 and then to the news side in 1994 where he is now a three-times-a-week columnist on the City & Region page. He has won several New York State Associated Press Association and state Publishers Association awards. His favorite topics include the Buffalo waterfront, city and Erie County government, inner city neighborhoods and celebrating Buffalo’s strengths.

Arriving in 1985 from the Syracuse Post-Standard, Susan has anchored The News’ coverage of fashion and home design ever since. Her popular column on the ironies and oddities of the home debuted in 2004 and has become a staple of the Friday Home & Style section. A graduate of St. Lawrence University with an M. A. in magazine journalism from the Newhouse School at Syracuse University, Susan also worked at the Rochester Democrat & Chronicle.

News political writer for more than 10 years, Bob is the leading newspaper reporter on the Western New York political scene. A St. Bonaventure graduate, Bob joined The News in 1982 after working at the Olean Times Herald. A native of Scotia, he also lived in Auburn and worked for the Bradford Era as well. Bob has covered most of the recent national nominating conventions, as well as the campaigns of Sen. Hillary Rodham Clinton, Sen. Charles Schumer and many others, both regional and local.

Dave started at The News as a college intern, joining the staff full time in 1985. A graduate of Syracuse University, Dave has worked for the Business section since 1987, following a stint in the Tonawanda Bureau. Specializing in corporate coverage, his Sunday column often examines Buffalo’s hard-hit economy, corporate leadership and prospects for growth. Arts Editor, movie, jazz and television critic Jeff Simon’s career at The News spans 35 years. Jeff attended Syracuse University and the University at Buffalo and started working at The News while a student at the Nichols School. He became a reporter in 1969. Simon’s interviews encompass a Who’s Who of Hollywood screen and film legends, as well as jazz musicians and television stars. He covered the Woodstock music festival and has won numerous awards for his work.

Retired Washington Bureau Chief since 1989, he joined The News in 1982 following the closing of the Courier Express. A graduate of Brown University and an Olympic rower, he attended Stanford University’s Professional Journalism Fellowship program in 1968. Doug has covered the Western New York Congressional delegation through all its changes over the last 20 years. He has also reported from national presidential nominating conventions, presidential news conferences, State of the Union addresses and inaugurations.
