Plant a tree in your name --
Over 30,000 trees were lost throughout Western New York during the October storm. It will take millions of dollars and many years of growing to restore the lost splendor.
The Buffalo News and Re-Tree WNY have joined together to raise funds to replace these beautiful trees. One third of the funds will go to plant trees in the City of Buffalo, another third will go to the Olmsted Parks Conservancy and the remaining third will go to surrounding suburbs.
The goal of The Buffalo News Green Leaf Campaign is to raise $150,000 to plant an additional 500 trees this year. Each new tree (approximately 10-15 feet high) will cost approximately $300 to purchase and plant. The names of donors will be printed in The Buffalo News.
