The Buffalo News, as a founding partner in Kids Voting Western New York, is pleased to offer WNY Votes! Election ’07 a civic education program aligned with the Kids Voting national curriculum.

WNY Votes! offers a Monday through Friday subscription, September 24 – November 16, with eight weekly in-paper activities published on Wednesdays and available online.  Supplemental curriculum activities are also available online.  Newspaper subscriptions are available courtesy of Parade Magazine and The Buffalo News.

The newspaper plays an important role in the civic education of WNY students.  Studies conducted by the Newspaper Association show a strong correlation between newspaper reading and civic engagement.  And the impact on volunteerism as adults is significant when students use newspapers in the classroom and also read the paper at home.*
